▶ SUMMARY: Kitty wanted a non human/powered people meet and greet so they could make sure they were all okay. Someone gotta look out for them

( With the pieces of paper floating around it isn't hard to grab a sheet and a marker pen to make the sign for the door, commandeering one of the labs for the meeting. Kitty had waited until it had gotten dark before putting the sign on the door. Hopefully someone else would turn up - would see either the sign or her post it note. There were three people that Kitty at least knew knew of it. N, and two strangers.

Waiting Kitty took to looking around the lab, more making room and pulling out chairs than looking around. Although they'd probably have to clear them away again for any displays. Like running.

When the door to the lab opens Kitty is quick to turn around, a smile ready for whoever walks through the door. This is exciting. It has to be a good thing, right? Solidarity in unfamiliar and unnatural situations. Safety in numbers - and knowing that they're all safe. That maybe they could do something to help )

Hey. I'm Kitty.

( Well that was out of the way. Did they wait for others or just get on with it? )

[Ollie isn't necessarily tone deaf, but she's operating under the assumption that if this kid didn't want to talk to her, he wouldn't.

So she isn't too bothered by his tone.]

Mortar and pestle.

[She signs it at first, but follows it quickly with a mime of what exactly a mortar and pestle involves, since she's had mixed luck with signing.]

((He understands the motion quickly enough, but his brow furrows in confusion as he peeks into the cabinet.)) Would that sort of thing be in a science lab? ((Says the kid who hasn't been in school since he was ten, let alone learning science.))

[Ollie shrugs her answer to the first question, because she's only ever been in a lab once, and she was the subject.

For the second question, she holds up the dry, crumbling leaves. If she breaks them up, she can use them more quickly and easily, even if they're not as potent as they would be fresh.

She's also starting to consider potions she could pre-mix now, with what she has on her.]

((That... doesn't help Nico understand, but sure, he'll help with the search. His eyes flit over the shelves as he asks-)) So you have powers too?

[Conversation isn't unwelcome, its just - tricky, but Ollie fishes a note book out of her pocket, along with a pen.

So she can write "witch" on it and show Nico.]

((Oh. He blinks a couple times at the piece of paper, then looks back up at her.)) A witch. Cool. I'm... a demigod.

Would it be easier for you to sign? I can... try to figure it out.

[A demigod is not something that Ollie has ever met; she knows many witches worship different gods, but she isn't one of them.

(If the Gods cared about them, they would have won the war).]

It's not always easy to figure out.

[Her expression is a little rueful, knowing that sign isn't easy for those who don't have experience. It took her years to learn.]

((He hesitates, then nods slowly.)) If you're certain.

So are those leaves... used in spells, or something? ((He hopes that's not something rude to assume.))

[In answer, Ollie flicks to a page in her book and offers it to Nico.

It's a fairly simple healing potion, to seal open wounds, but Ollie figures it might be good to have on hand.]

((For the first time, his features soften a little as he peers at the pages. He's not smiling or anything, but he looks more hopeful and less hardened.)) That looks like it'll be helpful. Do you need a- a mortar and pestle type thing, or could something else make do? ((There are plenty of curved watchglasses and stir rods, after all.))

[Ollie points to the part that says "paste" and makes a bit of an over-dramatic sad face.

I don't know if you'll find it here. Most of the stuff is glass or plastic.

Ollie sighs, annoyed, then scrunches up her nose as she thinks, before vaguely gesturing the direction of outside.]
