[ Good evening, everyone!
Well, actually it's not. It's raining—hard. Is it supposed to be? Who knows. But there's a thunderstorm rolling in, and zombies aren't immune to being struck by lightning.
Really, though—there's nothing entirely extraordinary about tonight. It's what you choose to make of it.

[There's a project in the kitchen that's taken up Steph's spare time in the last couple of weeks, because something really had to be done about the coffee situation. The first issue had been finding the coffee; beans don't stay fresh forever and instant tastes revolting, but eventually she'd scrounged up some freeze-dried grounds, which won't be as good as fresh ones, but it's something.
A coffee maker was easy enough to find, but, well, she doesn't want something that relies on electricity, so she's rigged up a slow drip brewer.
Science.
All for the sake of coffee.
A rainy day is a good time to test it, anyway, after it's been filtering for two days (with a DO NOT TOUCH sign right in front. There's enough for a few mugs of coffee, but Steph starts with one, pouring it carefully into a cup before adding some sugar that she scrounged up. She takes a deep breath, sighing happily, then takes a sip.]
There is a god.
[She's going to be there for at least an hour, enjoying her coffee. She might even share if someone asks nicely, just don't comment on the oddness of a woman in a superhero costume drinking coffee.]
b ▶ the roof
[Somehow Steph doubts that anyone has ventured out into the rain tonight, so she doesn't see the need to venture out as well just to patrol. Still, Steph climbs up to the rooftop of the compound, for the sake of keeping an eye out on the horizon, but also just to enjoy watching the storm roll over ahead.
Her Batgirl suit keeps her dry (and lightning-proof), and the lenses in her cowl let her see out into the dark, just in case there does happen to be anyone nearby who does need help.
Really, though, she just likes the smell of lightning and rain in the air.]
c ▶ wildcard
[When she isn't brewing coffee or playing lightning rod on the roof, Steph is wandering the halls, finding things to do to keep herself busy, either in the labs or the shared communal spaces. Someone has to clean the showers, after all.]
a ▶ the kitchen
he'd check in on people, but he only knows a handful of faces around here. maybe he can meet a few more people making rounds. it's similar to what he does on his own ship---wherever they are now. he just hopes they're ok.
but no, he catches the smell of coffee on his way past the kitchen area, and makes his way in. science experiment that ends in coffee? yeah, he's good with that. ]
Somebody's been busy. [ while he is interested in the actual coffee, he's also interested in the work to get to the awesome endgame itself. so yeah, he might be taking a peek at that, but not touching. ] You made it to where you're not reliant on main power, right?
That's a good idea.

Doesn't even need hot water, just gotta heat it up when you want it.
[Which she did in the microwave, although it'd work just fine on a gas stove (or fire) if they run out of electricity.]
Or you can have it iced, if that's your thing.
no subject
It's a good idea.
[ jim makes a face when she mentions icing perfectly good, hot coffee. ] No, thank you. Hot and black is good enough for me.
Wouldn't happen to mind sharing a little, would you?
no subject
I guess I could spare a mug.
[She sounds so put out, but she'll fetch a mug and fill it with some of the coffee she's heated up.]
no subject
Well, I appreciate that.
[ he surveys the room, cataloging all the storage areas in the back that he'll have to check later. ]
I'm Jim, by the way. Jim Kirk. [ might as well have a friendly chat over a cup of coffee, right? ]
c > Ellie's room
Her room is clean. Her clothes are all there, her books are all there, and there's even a couple of new ones. She picks one up and turns it over to read the back, stroking the cover gently. It's a habit she picked up on finding how smooth these motherfuckers are without water damage.] ...Cool.
[The statement is tired, a word said to fill silence.
Her stomach growls, and she turns back toward the door, planning to head to the kitchen to find something to eat, still dazed over finding herself outside.]
no subject
She doesn't expect to see Ellie standing in the doorway of that room, almost like she's never left.]
Ellie!
[Steph jogs forward, but resist the urge to pull Ellie into a hug, knowing that physical contact isn't something that's easy for her.]
double the trouble (B)
Unfortunately her own Spoiler suit isn't quite as fancy, will definitely get soaked before too long, and is way not lightning proof (she should probably look into that maybe). And there's no nifty cowl to give her super nightvision or anything. But that's okay. Her cape has a hood? Although it's down, because she wants to get wet. It's part of the fun of being in a storm.
Of course she's not expecting anyone else to be out here. So it surprises her to see the somewhat familiar silhouette of a batclan member. The cowl is very telling after all.
And well, it's as good a time as any to practice her stealth. Eiko would be glad she's keeping up her training even while stuck in a creepy zombie compound.
So here comes Stephanie, sneaking as quietly as she can on the wet roof.
this can only end well
It's not the sound of footsteps that give Spoiler away, but the fact there's something different in the sound of the rain falling, hitting fabric rather than the hard surface of the roof.
Batgirl's head tilts slightly, making sure she is actually hearing that right, before she turns around and--
Oh.]
Hi.
[This is new.]
no subject
Or.... a Batgirl?
That's about as far as Spoiler has concluded so far. Cowl's are good at hiding identities after all so who knows who is under there? But she's definitely blonde. And the Batgirl Spoiler's familiar with is definitely a redhead.
She'd thought she'd met most of the clan back home, or at least seen them, but hey, it seems to be an ever growing club these days.
More importantly. She failed to sneak up on her. ]
I was so close too. Hi there, name's Spoiler! [She holds out her hand.]
no subject
But eventually she manages to shake that offered hand.]
Yeah, I-- yeah. I know who you are.
[There's really no way to say you're me, so Steph just isn't going to add anything to that right now.]
no subject
[Maybe she's gaining a reputation. Though, it occurs to her belatedly, that this might be someone from some alternate world or something? That's a thing here, isn't it?]
Soooo, Batgirl? Batwoman? Batlady?
no subject
[The reply is automatic, her thoughts more focused on what to do next, how to handle this situation without freaking out this other version of herself. She's Spoiler, which means she's younger, but obviously she'll have had some experience with superhero bullshit.
And really, maybe Steph just needs to trust herself (ha).]
How up to speed are you on the multiverse?
no subject
She holds up making a small semi-circle with her thumb and fore-finger to indicate ' a little bit' ]
Just sorta learned about it recently. And mostly that it exists. Which is kind of mind blowing, but not surprising I guess.
no subject
[Since that's technically what's happening here.
Steph sighs.]
You know what, this might be easier if I just take this off.
[And there goes the cowl, revealing Steph's face and an expression that could probably be verbalised as welp.]
Hi.
no subject
That
Hm.
Yeah.
Okay.]
holy friggin' crap.
[Okay. Okay. Breathe. This is totally a thing. A... really cool thing! Other Stephanie did say she was Batgirl after all.
And time travel! She didn't miss that.]
No way! Does this mean I become Batgirl in the future!? How awesome is that!
no subject
It might, but your Spoiler outfit is different than mine was, so I'm guessing there's alternate universe stuff happening too.

Cass had had more or less the same thought, venturing up to the roof in her Batgirl gear, night vision lenses active. It didn't take long to spot Steph, of course -- she would recognize Stephanie anywhere. She crept out in the rain, as silently as she can with the constant noise of the rain and the inevitable shifts in the air, with one goal in mind.
Tag.]
no subject
But then she sees those pointy ears and realizes what's happened.]
Oh, it's on.
[Better run, Cass.]
no subject
Maybe you've... gotten better? [Calling from a distance. GOOD LUCK STEPH YOU'LL NEVER CATCH HER ALIVE]
