▶ WHO: The Winter Soldier
▶ DATE: 8/22/15
▶ WARNINGS: None yet.
▶ SUMMARY: The Soldier finds an egg. Whaaaaat?
[The Soldier has had very little to do. Without a clear handler or line of command, he's left aimless, without a mission, without a target. So he spends most of his time patrolling the compound, quietly stalking people of interest, and sitting at his vantage point with his sniper rifle.
He'd be bored out of his mind if he was allowed to have emotions like boredom.
It's on one of his patrols that he notices something a little different in the garage. There's a pile of garbage in the corner, which hadn't been there a few hours ago. It could just be garbage, and it probably is, but it's something different, and he wants to check it out.
He pokes at the pile a bit, scattering it, only to find it's been covering a large red egg.
He stares at it a momentary, then reaches out to touch it with his right hand, drawing it back sharply when he finds it's hot.
Well now.
That's strange.]

i hope this is alright, i got sick during the event sob
What is it?
[ His voice is deep but filtered heavily through his helmet; it sounds equal parts man and machine. ]
this works!
But until he's given a reason to attack, whether that's because he's attacked first or given an order to kill, there's no reason for him to go for any one of his many weapons.]
An egg.
[He looks back at it, tentatively touches it again, then picks it up. It's heavy.]

Do you recognise what breed of creature it's from?
[ It's nothing like he's ever seen. Even alien eggs aren't... quite like this. ]
no subject
No. I'm not... familiar. With eggs.
no subject
Is it warm?
no subject
[He runs his flesh and blood right hand over the surface.]
It's hot.

[ Zombies don't lay eggs, Locus. ]
no subject
Those were humans. Humans don't lay eggs.
no subject
[ See, he's being serious about this. ]
no subject
Could be man-made.
no subject
And the egg?
no subject
No idea. Guess I'll find out when it hatches.

[ Especially if it's an alien...................... ]

It's on one of these walks that he comes across Bucky--and Bucky's egg. He pauses, eyebrow raised.]
You've found something.
no subject
Yes.
[Not much else to say to that, really. He's still looking the egg over. It's hot, but not too hot to hold. The heat is just... surprising.]

this is a quality tag. WHAT'D YOU FIND, BOY?
[Steve might not have noticed his stalker when Bucky is, you know, in the process of stalking. But Steve himself has been sticking as close as possible to Bucky in the down time between crises. Whether it's to make sure Bucky is okay or to make sure that everyone else is, Steve - well, he's not going to think about that.]
What is it?
Woof!
He still hasn't figured out who this Steve guy is to him. He's something important, most likely. That much is obvious. But the specifics are... jumbled. Scattered. In pieces.]

[It hurts to have to ask.]
