Echo backs away as he stands, hissing and splaying her claws but taking a more defensive position than offensive. This armored, offensively tasting creature might actually be a threat. It's not worth another attack as long as he's not making a further move, though. She shakes her head side to side and claws at her muzzle again to try and get the taste and stench out. What a blow to pride that she's lost this encounter, but taste this bad meant he was probably poisonous or would make her sick.

While she's trying to clear her nose and mouth, she's also keeping an eye on Grif. Just because he tastes foul doesn't mean she won't defend herself if she feels threatened. She sidesteps away, wanting to put space between them without putting her back to him.
