[ clarke has learned the value of swift and decisive action, but she's always known the value of caution, of rational thought and of making a plan before you act, of thinking. she isn't going to venture out blindly when someone's made these walls to keep something out. ( of course, it's possible that these walls are meant to keep them in, but the gate does not look like it will be difficult to leave and so clarke has discarded that option as unlikely. )
