(OPEN) COMMUNITY MESSAGE BOARD @ STARTER BASE
▶ WHO: Everyone!!
▶ DATE: July 9th 2015
▶ WARNINGS: none thus far
▶ SUMMARY: A place to share your ic infos, if you please! Thomas is a freaking busy body, and he wants to get all the clues about this place gathered up, so he's going to start writing stuff he's found/woke up with onto a wall in one of the labs, and leave notes around the compound for others to do the same.
[ in one of the lab rooms, you'll find a message (possibly with more messages) scrawled on one of the walls (literally ON TO it, with either pen or a marker). it reads: ]

[ because thomas is super good about being specific. and communicative. but basically, that's what he's posting here - notes. clues, useful information, curious things - information. the advantage the gladers had in getting out of the maze was that they were united, and cooperating for the same goal. thomas doesn't know anyone here, and only has maybe two pieces of what's a much larger puzzle. he needs the rest.
so, around the compound, you'll find scraps of paper that have been taped or pinned to walls (or written directly onto them) that read in the same handwriting: ]
SEE LAB ROOM [[ ROOM NUMBER HERE ]] FOR INFO
IF YOU FOUND SOMETHING, WRITE IT DOWN
[ again, he is awesome at being verbose. if your character decides to investigate the room, they'll find thomas's notes already pinned or written onto the wall, plus whatever is left in the comments below. thomas himself will likely be around more often than not, reading things, scrawling stuff of paper, looking contemplative, or being passed the fuck out in a corner, if they want to bug him. ]
[[ ooc; okay so thomas is a nut, and also i thought we could use an icly set up means for characters to share the clues they woke up with/stuff they found/whatever other information about stuff going down. if you want, put up a top level for the actual note your dude/dudette is leaving, and idk people can tag into it if they want to seek your character out and bug them? or write notes under the note you left? idefk, let's do stuff, go wild???
PS, IF YOU WANT THE TL;DR VERSION OF THIS, i tried organizing an IC list that Thomas would have made over here. It's not perfect, so don't consider that like end all be all, but thought it might help. ]]

[ Later she comes back with a post-it on which she's drawn her Mockingjay symbol, puts it in amongst the other requests to find people and drawings and shared information. ]
post-it
a post-it on the post-it
yes. it's
not mine

let me know
if it's where we are
[ Since the map doesn't depict any place she recognizes — and the Capitol and Districts aren't marked on it so she has no idea what she's looking at and is probably imagining the wrong scale. ]
no subject
[The arrow points to a spot a few hours of the West Coast, still in California.]
you're not from earth?
no subject
[ Katniss thinks answering questions like this is stupid so she just makes a few post its with arrows that she lines up to point to... her, where she's sat herself, leant up against the wall and restringing the bow she's decided to claim as her own, a pack full of looted gear tucked under her drawn up legs. A couple of people read the post-it conversation and follow the arrows to look at her, but she ignores them unless they initiate conversation. ]

Your map was more interesting than the one I got.
no subject
What did your map look like?
[ She's already seen a similar map on the board with a circle instead of crosses, more more comprehensible to her. ]
no subject
[Which made it a useful reference, but didn't supply a lot of answers.]
Those two crossed out islands are Hawaii and Australia, which were inhabited last I checked, so I'm not sure what that means.
[Are they gone? Are they safe zones? Crosses could mean anything.]
no subject
[ Though based on Steph's You Are Here post-it that might be easier said than done. ]
Do you know where Panem is on the map? I thought maybe here...
[ She's standing now, tracing America with a finger. ]
But that would put us in District 4.
no subject
[But she peers at the board, looking for that particular map and - yep, Alaska. She makes a mental note to see if Supes can swing by both Alaska and Hawaii.
And then she watches Katniss point out "District 4", but, well-]
Can't say I've heard of Panem, sorry. Is that where you're from?
no subject
[ Katniss agrees, looking a little perturbed by that information, and maybe a little wary, too, like she doesn't believe Steph and is waiting for the trick to be revealed. She also isn't going to be the first to introduce herself. ]
no subject
[But it's not a bad huh just a thoughtful one as Steph considers the map a little more closely.]
I'm from Gotham, which should be... here.
[She points out an empty spot in the Delaware Bay.]
So it looks like this world might be a little different than both of ours.
no subject
[ As though that's a question anyone has an answer to. Katniss considers the place she's pointing to. The east coast has been radically changed by her time, so she thinks "Gotham" would be just sea, though closest to Twelve. The fact that it's nowhere she's heard of just goes further to emphasizing that she's a long way from home, but can't help but ask anyway: ]
Your friend who flies... did they say these maps are real? It could be a lie.
no subject
[Who does even do multiverse travel? Booster Gold only does time travel.]
From what he's said, it all looks pretty right, and the climate here matches what I know of California so far. Which means it's summer and probably not that long after the world ended.
[In July, according to the doors.]
no subject
[ Katniss says, suddenly determined. A part of her had wanted to try and clean off the doors just as soon as she'd seen that dire message. ]
So what about the one with the circle? Does that mean we should go there?
no subject
That's a good way to think about it.
[Being stubborn is something she excels at, and it can't hurt to apply to the end of the world, too, and a refusal to accept that.]
It could, but Alaska is huge. If there's something there, we're gonna need more specific coordinates.
[Technically she guesses they could split up Barry and Clark and get them to search the whole place, but Steph is worried about it being a trap or something.]
no subject
[ Katniss asks, looking at the map again. She still has no real sense of scale for any of it, but she doesn't know how to get that. Still, she does understand what Steph is saying, that it's a place all of its own and just going there may not be what's meant by the circle. ]
no subject
[Steph peers at the map, checking the scale, since "how big is Alaska" isn't something she's ever needed to know before, but she can figure it out.]
It's almost like 700, 000 square miles, if that means anything to you?
no subject
Someone else has a map with Alaska circled.
